Cutoff Rate Analysis of the Gauss-markov Fading Channel with Adaptive Energy Allocation
نویسندگان
چکیده
We use the cutoff rate to analyze reliable rates over the firstorder Guass-Markov fading channel when an optimized pilot-symbol assisted modulation (PSAM) scheme is used to provide partial CSI to the receiver. The transmitter uses BPSK modulation, and has knowledge of the SNR at the receiver and the normalized doppler spread only. Under an average energy constraint, closed form expressions are found for the optimal training and data energies, for both the adaptive and non-adaptive cases. For the non-adaptive case, a lower bound on the optimal training period, which is exact at moderate to high SNR, is given.

Cutoff Rate Analysis of the Gauss-Markov Fading Channel with Binary Inputs and Partial CSI at the Receiver
We use cutoff rate to study the rateoptimal binary input distributions for use on the Rayleigh fading channel when only partial CSI is available at the receiver. First, we consider iid fading, and analyze the cutoff rate under partial CSI for BPSK and On-Off Keying (OOK) modulation. Then, we analytically determine the optimal distribution as a function of the faded SNR and the CSI quality avail...
متن کاملOptimal Training for Time-Selective Wireless Fading Channels Using Cutoff Rate
We consider the optimal allocation of resources—power and bandwidth—between training and data transmissions for singleuser time-selective Rayleigh flat-fading channels under the cutoff rate criterion. The transmitter exploits statistical channel state information (CSI) in the form of the channel Doppler spectrum to embed pilot symbols into the transmission stream. At the receiver, instantaneous...

متن کاملPower Allocation Strategies in Block-Fading Two-Way Relay Networks
This paper aims at investigating the superiority of power allocation strategies, based on calculus of variations in a point-to-point two-way relay-assisted channel incorporating the amplify and forward strategy. Single and multilayer coding strategies for two cases of having and not having the channel state information (CSI) at the transmitters are studied, respectively. Using the notion of cal...
متن کاملPilot Symbol Transmission for Time-Varying Fading Channels: An Information-Theoretic Optimization
We consider the optimal design of pilot-symbolassisted modulation (PSAM) in time-varying flat-fading channels (FFC). The FFC is modeled as an autoregressive Gauss-Markov random process, whose realization is unknown at the transmitter or at the receiver. Our measure of optimality for channel estimation is the rate of information transfer through the channel. The parameters that are available for...
